Girls in White Coats (GiWC) is a virtual community that provides support and guidance for young women who are passionate about becoming healthcare leaders in the future. Our team is comprised of enthusiastic and powerful girls from all over the world. Together we hope to end gender disparities in the medical field through empowerment of the next generation of female healthcare professionals.
As girls, we are often given the impression that we aren’t as tough and “strong” as boys. Our dreams are looked down at and the amount of gender disparities increases in all fields of work, not only medicine. GiWC was made in efforts to gather young women and encourage and empower them to follow their passion of becoming leaders in medicine.
Our mission is to fight for women’s leadership and against sexism in the health fields. Female doctors are often looked at as inferior and are paid lesser than male doctors. We are looking to spread the word about GiWC and hopefully invite members from all corners of the world to join us in our mission.
We currently are inviting medical professionals to speak about their experiences and give advice/tips for others interested in pursuing a healthcare career. In the future, we plan on creating workshops with tips on how to prepare for interviews, how to get research positions, how to make close connections with professors and teachers, etc.
We have big plans for GiWC and we hope young women around the world will help us in our journey!
